I’d like the Elements to support some of the new features of Lightroom, for instance. But sometimes, the workflow and looks of Elements can’t beat the streamlined platforms that Photoshop has. Elements is also more limited than Lightroom, too, in the number of compatible file formats. It’s also harder to work with canvas layers in Elements.
Life Logic is at the top of my wish list for future versions of Elements, and I think that they will come. Life Logic is similar to the cloud documents in that it saves and syncs the project. But Life Logic supports 4K video, and live previews, 3D presentations, and multi-image blending. I also look forward to the video processing improvements for Live Edit. Another long-awaited feature would be batch processing, which can become quicker and easier to use with the ever-expanding list of presets and filters already available.
If you’re not happy with the BlackMagic capture card, FireWire isn’t fully supported by Lightroom for import. No word yet on Mac support, though… There are a lot of plug-ins for Lightroom that improve image quality, but Lightroom itself does an adequate job of that. I still like some of the tweaks you can apply to an image after import. Luma has good presets for exposure, color, tone, and lighting, although they’re all built into the edit pane. However, I do wish that the Luma presets were slot-able and content aware of selection. And, my favorite subtle adjustment is the Spot EQ, which filters out noise speckles and improves odd background patches.
