In november 2014, Mercedes Benz announced the COMAND NTG4 for all models that were previously released with the COMAND navigator, including the C-Class, SLK-Class and SLS-Class. With various updates to the underlying hardware, COMAND NTG4 for company-cars of all generations has up to now a base system that has a full size screen (8.2”) with an average resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, GPS with built-in mapping algorithm (WKB format), WLAN for Nissan Connect system and HDMI output. Unlike the previous NTG3, COMAND NTG4 is also compatible with MOST.
As of 2019, COMAND NTG4 is the standard navigator in the C-Class, W211, W212 and W213 CL-Class. With the W205 (203 & 204) and the W215 (Rebel 350 & Zeta), COMAND NTG4 was also introduced at the beginning of the 2010s. In these models a smaller 7” screen is used and is described as ‘full-screen COMAND’ (full-screen Navi display in German).
To replace COMAND’s HDMI output function and add HD Radio, Mercedes introduced their active RF antenna, known as Titan, at the end of 2017. It is not compatible with the first generation of full-screen COMAND navi units with the iDrive controls.
